Watercolor Make-it-Monday #218

Hi everyone, now that things are settling a little Ive been trying to get in as much card making time as possible.  

 I really love the rainbow of colors that this card ended up with.  I made for Make it Monday at Papertrey Ink, the challenge was to use a die and watercolor.  

The "Hello" die I used is from Lawn Fawn, I used Zig Watercolor pens and the coffee cups are from Papertrey Ink - Heart2heart Mini Stamp Set #1.  I also had the coffee cup dies so I used that as a background to pop up the cups.  The cups are colored with Copics and I paper pieced some coordinating paper on the cups.  Phew.

Word Art Wednesday - Dress Card

Today's verse over at Word Art Wednesday is from Psalm 31:25.    I hope you will play along with us - it is a very simple "anything goes"challenge... just create an uplifting and positive card or other artwork and post it at Word Art Wednesday challenges.  You can use this week's verse below, but it is not required.

I couldn't resist going with the clothing theme and chose this adorable cut file from Mod Kid's Patty Young. I then printed it on my Silhouette Cameo and cut.  It was lots of fun choosing the belt & bows...

Blue Koi Jammies

For today's outfit for Kids Clothes Week I decided to make some pajamas for the little guy.  I had in my mind the blue fish (which I applied with my Silhouette and iron-on transfer paper) and didn't use a pattern for the outfit.  

I up cycled a big adult cream shirt for the base that was a thrift store find, and I had already used the ribbing of it on an earlier project. It was nice to use all the shirt up! I put the little print from the front of the shirt on the back of the new pajamas.

I love the maroon ribbing and shorts as different for a boy. Overall, glad again for the inspiration of Kids Clothes Week to inspire me to sew this little outfit.  

Day 3: Kids Clothes Week - Wildflower

Phew! Day 3 sewing for Kids Clothes Week! So for today I had a little piece of panel left from the Blend Corey Dantini fabric that I am making into a wall quilt for my Craft Room. I didn't want to waste it so I decided - hey- perfect for a little girls dress.  I LOVE this artist (Dantini) and first saw her work in a Paper crafting magazine.  When I saw she had fabric I was all over it.  

Im in love with how this dress turned out.  I used a pattern from a book I have called Cute Clothes for Kids by Rob Merrett.  I wanted something simple so the fabric can shine.  I made a size 9 months...hopefully for my future neice!

The back of the dress has the little music notes fabric, also from Blend.  Thanks for peeking!

Day Two - Kids Clothes Week ~ Vikings

KCW is where you agree to sew for 1 hour a day for a week, based on a theme.  Sounds super fun right? Its so much fun looking at all the projects that are posted, you can find them here Kids Clothes Week Projects.

I just love how this jacket turned out, and it was really really fun (and easy) to put together.  I made it from Ottobre Summer 3/2013, one of my favorite issues. Ive made three different things from this Ottobre issue!

The jacket is not lined and many of the pieces I used are up cycled from old onesies that no longer fit my little guy.  The Viking knit is from Lillistoff I believe, and so glad I finally got a chance to use it!  I found the big zipper on ETSY.  

This pattern was really easy to use. I was always intimated by jackets because they seemed hard, but if you've made a knit shirt the jacket is basically the same thing with a zipper.  Go for it! 

It was fun putting all the fabrics together and Im definitely going to make another one soon...maybe not quite so Euro/bright!

Looking forward to Day 3 of KCW, so far Ive loved seeing all the designs the other crafters have made! Stunning!

Kids Clothing Week - Day One "the Declan shirt"

     I'd love to be more involved in the "Sewing Kids Clothes Community"! Is there such a thing? Well you know what I mean.  That is my sewing goal for the year! 

Its been hard because I noticed most crafters focus on one favorite craft - and I don't really do that. Im like a schizaphrenic crafter, all over the place.  

Any one else out there who equally loves several crafting hobbies? Is it just me? Its hard to love different hobbies because they all use different tools (and you have to find somewhere to store it  - than you hubby for not complaining when I took over the Dining Room and made it a Crafting Room).

And there are only so many hours in the day when the kids are napping....

Since today is Day 1 of Kids Clothes Week I though it was a perfect chance to have fun with other sewing crafters (Sewists? Sewicians? Sew-A-Holics?)   

KCW is where you agree to sew for 1 hour a day for a week, based on a theme.  Sounds super fun right? So I pulled out the serger and the adorable elephant knit Ive been hoarding from Jay-Cyn Designs for Birch Fabrics...the line is called "Serengeti".  Its not new fabric line, but its new to me since I haven't used it yet!

The pattern I chose for my 3 year old son Declan is the "Charlie" from Zonen 09 you can find HERE.  This is the first time I used a Zonen 09 pattern and I did like it but will probably size up in the future! I made a size 104 (4).  I paired the Jay-Cyn fabric with some interlock from Jo Anns - they were both thick but I didn't have any thin fabric to pair with the elephants (as the pattern suggested) so it really is a little too warm for Southern California sunshine.  But I was warned! Overall I really liked the pattern and will probably make it again. 

Looking forward to Day 2 of KCW, so far Ive loved seeing all the designs the other crafters have made! Stunning!

Whimsie Doodles ~3D Box Card~

Hello all! I had my kids home for 2 weeks this month because of Spring break so my crafting fell woefully behind.....The lovely ladies at Whimsie Doodle where I am guest designing were so understanding and I wanted to make them an extra special card. They have the most adorable stamps and this little lady above is from their March new release.

3-D Box - Silhouette Cameo cut files

To make this card I used my Silhouette Cameo and a cut file which cuts the little paper for me. I then glued them all together and colored up the little Whimsie Doodle cutie.  If you don't have a Silhouette Cameo then you can do a google search for "3D Box Cards" to find some great tutorials out there for how to make these cards.  

Here is another view of the card where you can see the little cloud cutout better.  And closed shut for mailing, which really makes me smile, not sure why. :-0
